Retail Sales manager - Retail Division

 

Position Summary

 

The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitable sales growth within the retail division by managing key customer relationships and executing strategic initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of product applications, market dynamics, and customer engagement strategies to ensure sustained success.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and support retailers and retail manufacturer representatives to enhance customer service and satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across customer organizations, including inventory, supply chain, merchandising, and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of product lines, materials, and applications.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market threats; recommend strategic responses to protect market share.
  • Analyze sales trends and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Respectfully represent the company at customer events, trade shows, plant tours, training sessions, and other engagements.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and meetings to support business objectives.
  • Prepare and present impactful presentations for internal reviews and customer meetings.
  • Manage account health, including credits, debits, rebates, payment terms, and deductions.
  • Maintain and coordinate pricing files with internal teams and customers.
  • Develop and execute business plans focused on profitability, including margin analysis and SKU-level performance reviews.
  • Contribute to the S&OP process by providing forecasts, budgets, and production planning insights.
  • Collaborate with customer service to resolve issues and prioritize needs.
  • Collect and share critical customer data to support informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and manage customer compliance metrics such as fill rates, service levels, transportation, and inventory.
  • Plan travel and expenses responsibly within budget and policy guidelines.
  • Ensure proper documentation and retention of contracts, pricing files, and other key records.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Required:
  • Associate’s degree or higher

 

  • Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Business field of study)
  • Five or more years’ experience in sales
  • Experience in retail sales/account management
  • Experience with business travel

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
