Transportation Associate
Overview:
The Transportation Associate supports transportation operations through data analysis, carrier performance monitoring, freight audit oversight, claims management, and continuous process improvement initiatives. This position serves as a key resource in identifying transportation trends, resolving operational exceptions, and recommending actions that improve service, compliance, and freight spend performance.
Working cross-functionally with Customer Service, Distribution, Manufacturing, Finance, and third-party carriers, the Transportation Associate evaluates transportation performance, investigates root causes of service and cost issues, and supports operational decision-making through reporting and analysis. This is an in-person position based at our headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
We are looking for an analytical and solution-oriented professional who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and identifying opportunities to improve transportation processes and performance. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, initiative, and a desire to contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the transportation network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Freight Audit & Financial Analysis

- Audit and analyze carrier freight invoices for accuracy, ensure compliance with rates and policies.
- Investigate freight bill discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective actions in coordination with carriers, Accounts Payable and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor freight spend trends and identify opportunities for cost recovery and process improvement.
- Assist in development of Transportation cost reporting and performance metrics.
- Claims Management

- Manage Transportation claims for lost or damaged shipments, ensuring all required documentation is collected and submitted to carriers.
- Track claim progress and follow up to ensure timely resolution and reimbursement.
- Maintain organized claim files and report claim trends to the transportation team for continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with carriers and shipping locations to develop claims mitigation strategies.
- Customer Service Support

- Respond Transportation-related customer service inquiries regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and tracking updates.
- Collaborate with carriers, warehouses, and customer service teams to provide timely and accurate shipment information.
- Operation Support

- Assist with data entry, reporting, and Transportation analysis to support day-to-day logistics operations.
- Help maintain shipping documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures and policies.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the transportation department.
- Requirements/Qualifications

- BA/BS college degree; Supply Chain background preferred
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn SAP and IBP (Integrated Business Planning) functionality
- Ability to communicate effectively with various organizational levels
- Analytical and statistical skills
- Proficient in MS Office suite of programs, primarily Excel
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
