Charlotte Pipe and Foundry is looking for a dynamic Project Engineer who will have a positive impact on our hands on engineering staff. The Project Engineer will provide general engineering support which include capital projects, engineering design, equipment specifications/diagnostics, process system review, trouble shooting and project management responsibility including budgets and scheduling.

 

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Carries out varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.
  • Ability to problem solve using a combination of standard methodologies, processes and procedures acquires and/or developed in previous assignments or best practices.
  • Participates in planning and/or preparation of technical electrical and mechanical specs for internal review to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Ability to perform technical bid analysis and make purchase recommendations.
  • Prepares or assist in the preparation of detailed designs including calculations and finished drawings and/or the review of vendor drawings for conformance to specifications.
  • Ability to complete cost estimates and project schedules as well as ensure the timeliness in the completion of projects of high quality within budget.
  • Familiarity with computerized methods of design is essential.
  • Cradle to grave project management including scoping, estimation, design, project submittal, procurement, construction, commissioning, equipment trials, testing, process development, generation of operating procedures, and training of operations/maintenance.
  • Support Projects in Satellite Plants across the country.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 5-7  years’ work-related experience manufacturing setting preferred
  • Experience in Implementing automation projects in a manufacturing setting.
  • Skilled in relevant design calculations and methods and in use of engineering programs.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical matters.
  • Skilled at conveying technical information to customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • A leader with strong communication skills & a team -player.
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternative ideas and be able to bring the best idea forward.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering, power and instrumentation.
  • Industrial Power Switchgear experience
  • Proficient with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI Programming, and or Rockwell operating systems preferred
  • Proficient PC skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
